Day 7: Candle-gazing meditation

Today, Christine from Evolution Pilates & Yoga Studios guides us through a candle-gazing meditation. This is a very simple way to meditate, as you focus your senses through sight on an object in front of you.

"If you're like me, and you have a busy mind and you're on the go all the time, it can be really hard to slow down your mind. This form of meditation is easy and accessible for all! For my meditation I'm lighting a candle in front of me, but you can use a coffee mug, a point on the wall, a flower or any object around you. Focus your sight on the object in front of you.

Looking at a candle, I'm going to start by gazing at the base of the flame itself, and moving my eyes up to the middle, noticing the warmth of the flame and mimicking its movement in my body with the flow of the flame.

This activity helps to quiet the mind, ease the senses and helps drop you into your body. This is a great tool for anybody, anywhere, at any time. I hope you take this tool and continue it throughout the Learn the Ropes challenge!"
